This is the website for the #82 car in the Southeast region of NASA's Spec E30 class, piloted by Craig Geiger. What is SpecE30 you ask? A racing series devoted to non-M BMW E30 models (1987-1990). The goal for Spec E30 is to create high levels of competition among similarly prepared E30's at a reasonable cost. The rules for building the car are quite strict and fairly limited which in theory puts emphasis on driving ability and not how much engineering and or money is devoted to the car.
I have built my car to the rules. The motor that came with the car that ran faithfully starting at 243,000 miles on it finally wore down it’s bearings. The valve train sounded like it's on it's last leg, but it seemed to still put down decent power. I rebuilt the motor in the second half of the 2008 season, however, it’s not maximized to the rules (still using stock pistons to cut costs).
