And then I won 5th place and was presented with a trophy... the one you see to the left. I signed up to take a welding class and needed something to create.  6th place trophies ended up being what I made (5th place was a fluke; 6th was somewhat achievable, however, it always seems to elude me).  This nonsense escalated to a point where Gran Turismo East placed a $50 cash prize on the August 11th Road Atlanta race for the 6th place finisher.  The IFU (Inverted Field Unlimited) race at Roebling is for 9th place, naturally the inverted version of 6th.

2008 brought more 6th place notoriety.  BimmerWorld graciously sponsors the winner of the 6th place trophy by adding a set of Performance Friction front brake pads and our friends at Beertech Racing provide a hilarious t-shirt to the lucky winner as well.  They continue this tradition into 2009 with the same contingency.
